Funeral Services

In the midst of life, we are in death.

Unfortunately, this is so true, and you may be called upon to organise the funeral or memorial ceremony for a loved one.

You have much more choice than you realise, and I will, as your celebrant, be able to assist you with making those choices.

The aim of a funeral ceremony should be:

  • To fulfil the wishes of the deceased (if known)

  • To allow family and friends to grieve and mourn (a funeral ceremony is part of this natural process)

  • To say goodbye to your loved one

  • To try to make sense of, and come to terms with, the loss

  • To celebrate the life lived

  • To demonstrate the love and respect you feel and will continue to feel for your loved one

  • To provide time for personal reflection and, or prayer

Circumstances of death are diverse, sadly we often have to create a funeral  ceremony for the young and those who have died before their time due to tragic circumstances. Whatever your situation, I can work with you to create and deliver a bespoke ceremony, whether it is a cremation, a burial or a memorial service.

I am also available to create the ceremony you would like in the event of your own death, if you would like to take the pressure off your own family.

In all circumstances I would meet with you to put together a ceremony which fully meets your wants and needs, allowing me to create and deliver it with confidence, care, dignity and sensitivity.

I can help and guide you to choose appropriate, readings/poetry, tributes and music. I offer coaching and guidance through writing and delivering a eulogy. Your ceremony can be spiritual, have elements of spirituality or can be completely secular.

Together, we will create a dignified and memorable ceremony so that your loved one’s life is celebrated with dignity, respect, memories and enduring love.

Dear Alison
Thank you very much for sending through the transcript of the service
you delivered for Benjamin. It was a wonderful service
to mourn, remember and celebrate my father's life and even the devout
Catholics in the congregation were more than satisfied.
Your careful research of the family, the music and the readings enabled
you to provide an inspirational story of my father's life and loves,
together with an uplifting service.
I would wholeheartedly recommend you to other families and will always
remember the thoughtfulness and kindness you extended to us all.
With very best wishes

Davina
